The Big Smith Letters were from the Big Smith Manufacturing Company in Carthage, Missouri. Former Big Smitih employees wrote letters, often V-Mail, to the editor of the newsletter at Big Smith so they could be in contact with many friends at one time. The editor of the Big Smith newsletter, Rachel, would publish their letters with comments along with news that the boys serving their country were anxious to receive. These newsletters were a wonderful way to keep up with friends who were serving all over the world. A great deal can be learned of this time in history by reading these letters. Included here is only a small portion of the collection so graciously shared for this project by the Powers Museum in Carthage, Missouri.
